Bargaining Update 6/10/2025

I know it’s been a while since I’ve sent an update.  Thank you to everyone who responded to the survey.  That was helpful information to us.  I have now closed it.

GREAT NEWS!  We have a new negotiator, Shane Youtz.  He is a labor and union lawyer based out of New Mexico who has worked on contracts for unions across several states.  We met with him tonight and we’re really looking forward to working with him.  Also Roxana McCloud-Lewis (whom some of you may have remembered from organizing) and Patrick Cowan will be working with us more closely on communication and support from the union.

Speaking of the union, there are some upcoming activities and actions if you are interested in joining. A contingency of AFT members will be attending the June 14th event to take a stand against Medicaid cuts. It’s a great opportunity to show solidarity with fellow union members. They will be at Battleship Oregon Memorial in Tom McCall Waterfront Park, 12pm. If you plan to attend and would like to meet up, feel free to call or text Roxana at 503-890-8141.

Also the nurses and techs from Legacy Unity are having a rally to support their bargaining on June 17th from  4:30pm-6:30pm at 1225 NE 2nd Ave.

Our current work is to get Shane up to speed and start hammering out some economic proposals.  Our understanding is that while our current system is complicated, there is not a general desire to fundamentally change it. However, there is a desire to make it so that we actually get paid vacation and that we are properly compensated for our time and our work.  Please send suggestions, thoughts, and all the things to legacypcpunion@gmail.com We’d love to hear from you.

Thank you for reading. We’re really excited to get going on the next phase of bargaining.
