Bargaining Update 4/10/25

Greetings, membership!

We held another bargaining session last Thursday, April 10th, 2025. Good news is that we did get some more items tentatively agreed to.  This is good. We mostly have employment status figured out.  We’re still not agreed on lactation (no, I don’t understand why, but we’re closer than we were).  We did agree that physicians would give 120 days and APP’s would give 90 day notice of resignation.  However, there’s actually no teeth to this.  Fundamentally, this is a courtesy.

We also came to an agreement about the grievance process. We agreed that the second step they had in there was not necessary so it’s gone.  We are close on seniority, layoff, and recall language that we will go through at our weekly meeting.

All this means is that we are THAT much closer to actually negotiating about economics.  Thus, we need input from you about what you want, don’t want, etc.  If you’ve already shared your views, thank you. If you haven’t, now is the time.  Our priorities:

-Get rid of the cap (which may be happening sooner rather than later)

-NO PAYBACK

-Have real time off so taking vacation doesn’t penalize us

-Have a sane compensation system that doesn’t require at 40 slide powerpoint presentation to understand

-Cost of living increases

This is also the time where we’re likely going to be splitting up the contract to actually negotiate out the physician pieces versus the APP’s. We believe that in terms of compensation, we have five categories:

-Paneled physicians

-Supplemental physicians

-Paneled APP’s

-Supplemental/support/non-paneled APP’s

-Our colleagues delivering babies and providing newborn care in Silverton

If we have missed a category, let us know. We want to be sure that all voices are heard.

We are still planning for our compensation meeting on May 1st at 8 pm. Here’s the Zoom link again:

We do plan to spend some time discussing compensation.  So please bring your questions and an open mind.

I know that there was one session about the 457(b) plans today. The other one is set for Wednesday at 7 am.  Again, the union as a whole plans to negotiate about the impact of Legacy’s plan. We’re still gathering information from experts.

We are interested in forming Contract Action Teams or CAT teams (yes, that is redundant).  These are people who can help disseminate information from the union as well as help us know what is going on and keep the union strong.  Remember, we have over 20 clinics to get information into.  If you are interested in participating, PLEASE contact Sam Luebke (202) 679-5497 or Chris Stamatakos (360) 521-3916 or me, Kar-yee (503) 381-3182.

Again, as always, feel free to reach out to legacypcpunion@gmail.com. We do love hearing from people.  If people are having issues with their managers or workplaces, PLEASE LET US KNOW. You’re not alone.

Thanks for reading.
