Bargaining Update 2/20/2025

Good day, membership. Apologies on not getting this out to y’all sooner.

We met with leadership on 2/20/2025.  We were responding to their proposals and seeing if they had a counter to our proposals on lactation and a working task force between the union and leadership. Disappointingly, they did not.

We did go through our counters. As we did, leadership pushed to separate the contracts out for the doctors and for the APP’s.  We agreed that it makes sense to do this at this juncture.  We still plan to bargain as one unit, but there are matters that affect one group versus another.  For example, a non-paneled supplemental APP should not need to give leadership 90 day notice of resignation while for a paneled doctor that would make sense. Separating the contracts helps us keep matters clear.

There was discussion if the supplemental doctors would be given severance or not as leadership is stating they are not guaranteed shifts and can stop working at any time.  We’re going to spend more time discussing this matter.

After presenting, leadership caucused for a while.  On coming back, they still did not have any counter for our lactation proposal, but did come back with language similar to what has been agreed to with other groups. We figured they were going to do that, but we will review the language first before agreeing.

No new sections were TA’ed. Our next bargaining date is March 10th. Hopefully we can make more progress on the rest of the non-economic proposals.  Then the real battles will begin.

On a happier note, the Providence nurses have a tentative contract which gives them a 16-22% pay raise. YEAH!

On a sadder note, Amber Oyama will be leaving our bargaining team.  She will be missed.

This does mean we are looking for an APP to join us on the bargaining team.  If interested, PLEASE reach out to us (or Chris… Chris is more than happy to talk to you.  His number is (360) 521-3916). We meet weekly on Zoom Tuesday nights from 8-9 pm. You do not have to go to all the bargaining sessions which currently average about once every 1-2 weeks and start at 4 pm with us coming together then the actual session starting at 4:30 pm. Sessions are virtual and have been lasting 2-2.5 hours. We really would love to have another APP join us.

If you have other questions, please let us know.  Our email is legacypcpunion@gmail.com.  We also have a web site hosted by ONA where these updates will go.  That URL is https://www.oregonrn.org/page/LPC-PNWHMA

If you have any new doctors or APP’s, send them our way.  Thanks!
